Confession of the – Kurtuluş Persian Church

1. God
we believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth—who was, who is, and who is to come; the Beginning and the End. He is Spirit: eternal, unchanging, self-existent, sovereign, and independent. All creation depends on Him. He is just and righteous, abounding in love, grace, and mercy; truthful and faithful, almighty and holy. From eternity to eternity, this one God exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence, being, and authority; distinct in function, yet equal and perfectly united.

The Father
He is the Father of creation, of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Israel, and of all believers. He dwells in glory and holiness, whom no one can see and live. Yet, out of His boundless love and mercy for lost and sinful humanity, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, unconditionally, to bring salvation and reconcile humanity to Himself. He hears prayers and answers them.

The Son
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, taking on human flesh. Though He lived a sinless life, He bore the sins and sufferings of humanity. By dying on the cross at Calvary, He paid the full penalty for the sins of all people and purchased salvation for those who believe in Him. He rose from the dead, triumphed over death, and ascended into heaven. Seated at the right hand of the Father, He intercedes for believers, protects them, assures them, and defends them. He possesses all the attributes of deity.

The Holy Spirit
He is the Spirit of God, all-knowing and ever-present. He convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and coming judgment. He leads sinners to the Saviour, dwells within believers, brings about new birth, baptizes, and seals them. He grants guidance, teaching, spiritual growth, gifts, and power for life and service, preparing believers for the glorious appearing of the Lord. He possesses all divine attributes.

2. The Holy Scriptures
we believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of sixty-six books, is the living Word of God—eternal, trustworthy, unchanging, and authoritative. All Scripture is inspired by God and is sufficient for the salvation of all humanity. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is the ultimate authority in human life and the light that illuminates our path.

3. The Sinfulness of Humanity
we believe that humanity was created in the image of God—holy and pure—but through wilful disobedience fell into sin. Thus, humanity descended from the purity of Eden into the depths of corruption, and all people became sinners. Humans are sinners by choice and by nature, not by destiny. Because of their fallen nature, they are unable to fulfil God’s law or atone for their sins through good works. Humanity stands condemned, without excuse, before a just and holy God.

4. God’s Plan of Salvation
we believe that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus Christ, sent by the Father, freely took upon Himself the punishment of sinners, bore their sins, and died in their place. He fully paid the penalty of sin and granted forgiveness to all who believe in Him. Whoever believes that Jesus Christ made atonement on the cross is freed from sin and from the dominion of Satan.

5. Salvation by Grace
we believe that the salvation of sinners is entirely by grace. It is impossible for us to become righteous through our own efforts or good deeds. We surrender ourselves to the mercy and love of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who justified and redeemed us by His blood. Trusting in His unfailing promises, we receive His gift of unconditional love and forgiveness.

6. Receiving Salvation
we believe that all who repent of their sins and believe that Jesus Christ died for them and was raised by God on the third day, and who accept Him as Lord and Saviour, receive salvation freely. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His precious blood, He grants mercy, forgiveness, and righteousness, giving believers eternal assurance.

7. New Creation and the Life of Faith
we believe that true faith brings transformation in heart and life. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ becomes a new creation through the Holy Spirit; the old has passed away, and all things have become new. The believer is set free from former ways and is transformed daily into the likeness of Christ in the path of holiness. Believers, having received the Spirit of God, possess new desires, new understanding, and a victorious outlook on life. The fruit of the Spirit is evident in them as they walk in the light, obey the Word of God, avoid ungodly conduct, and live as true witnesses of God’s Kingdom, seeking to please Him in all things.

8. Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
we believe that water baptism, as commanded by our Lord, is the immersion of believers in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an outward testimony of an inward spiritual transformation and a remembrance of the death of Christ. Believers declare that as Christ was raised in glory, they too are buried with Him in baptism and raised to new life. We also believe that the observance of the Lord’s Supper, instituted by Jesus Christ, is to be practiced until His return, in remembrance of His body and blood given for humanity. While both baptism and the Lord’s Supper are acts of obedience, they are not conditions for salvation.

9. Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Life in the Spirit
we believe that baptism in the Holy Spirit is the fulfilment of Christ’s promise—the indwelling of the Spirit of truth in believers. Its purpose is to empower believers, glorify Jesus Christ, inspire effective witness, deepen prayer, and lead to a mature and holy life. Believers may always expect this experience according to the pattern found in Scripture.
Every believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit and is called to live a life of prayer, goodness, peace, and compassion, not grieving the Spirit. They offer themselves as living sacrifices to God and walk according to the Spirit rather than the flesh. Such believers live a Spirit-filled life.

10. The Fruit and Gifts of the Holy Spirit
we believe that from the day of Pentecost until now, the Holy Spirit has given various spiritual gifts to the Church for its edification. These include apostleship, prophecy, service, teaching, exhortation, giving, leadership, mercy, wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, discernment of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues, and evangelism. This list is not exhaustive, as the Spirit distributes gifts according to His will. We believe that the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—is the evidence of a Spirit-filled and growing life. Walking in the Spirit leads believers into a balanced, humble, and Christ like life.

11. The Second Coming of Christ
we believe that Jesus Christ will return soon, visibly and in great glory, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God. No one knows the day or the hour. The dead in Christ will rise first, and living believers will be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air, and so they will be with Him forever. This truth profoundly shapes the life and ministry of believers.

12. The Church
we believe that all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour become part of His spiritual body—the universal Church—and the family of God. Christ is the head, and believers are its members. The Church is called to live in unity, love, obedience, and worship, proclaiming the Gospel and advancing the Kingdom of God. Believers are to encourage, strengthen, and build one another up in faith, and reflect Christ’s compassion by serving both believers and non-believers. Obedience to spiritual leaders, who are accountable before God, and supporting them in prayer is essential. Giving tithes and offerings generously, joyfully, and willingly is an act of returning to God what belongs to Him, and He blesses such faithfulness abundantly.

13. Final Judgment
we believe that all humanity will stand before the judgment seat of God to receive according to their deeds. People will also be judged according to their faith. Unbelievers will face eternal punishment, while believers will receive eternal life.

14. Heaven and Hell
we believe that heaven is the glorious dwelling place of the living God, prepared by the Lord Jesus for His children—a place free from darkness, sorrow, death, and all evil. We also believe in hell, a place of eternal separation, darkness, and sorrow, prepared for Satan and his angels. Those who reject the salvation of Jesus Christ will be cast into it and remain there forever.
